I fear that OS might be able to build a vehicle in the second turn and deny BM from taking
a base in the center

He speaks the truth. High starting income and accessible roads are a recipe for recon
rush. Personally, I don't fancy the idea of the central bases at all because of the
asymmetry (L to R), the inequality of the two bases (because of vertical asymmetry), and
the close proximity to the front/enemy bases (these neutral bases *are* the front).

As a general rule, anything that isn't a base or an HQ should be neutral to start to help
with the funding issue. Then, reduce the number of bases that start pre-owned. I recommend
2 or 3, but 4 can work in cases where recon rush isn't a viable option; here it is a
viable option.

I'd consolidate the two northern bases (one preowned and one neutral) as well- that whole
area is very heavy in terrain and will turn into an infantry/mech fest. You don't need any
extra mountain locked bases to encourage those units even more. On top of that, I'd
suggest removing about 50% of the mountains in that area. You can still keep it chokey and
dense, but you'd be surprised how far subtle use of heavy terrain can go.

Lastly, I'd swap the locations of the HQs and the nearby bases so that enemies aren't
quite so close to each other. This also helps mitigate recon rush somewhat, though it
won't eliminate it.

Very nice edits. This map looks much better now. I'd still cut out some mountains in the
top and make some passages through the center that are wider than 1 space, though.

Also, relatively minor point for now, but will become increasingly important as this map
(and others you make) improve: The base with the FTA counter is a bit more important than
the other base since it's responsible for capturing both neutral bases, 2/3 of the neutral
airports, all of the ports, and most of the funding, as well as protecting the HQ. In an
ideal world, the two starting bases are are equal importance so that the FTA counter
doesn't skew one way or the other; right now BM has some STA with the counter. If you put
it on the other base, OS would have as much FTA as BM has STA right now. Just a thought to
keep in mind.
