Artylocking is still a problem here though. 2-3 range.

lavagainer (06/14/2016 04:20am):
I spent a long time around those mid base areas when I was remaking this map. I decided on using
rivers as deterrence for the artillery locking. However, no matter what I tried to use to block the third
tile to the East of CI's base and the West of RF's base, it ended up not looking or feeling right. For
instance.. If I was to put a mountain there, that would give a ridiculously massive vision advantage
over almost all the tiles surrounding the mid base for the enemy team.

I kinda just settled on leaving a road tile there. I figured it was the only one tile that could reach that
base with an artillery from the back end anyway. Plus, it was a very vulnerable place to be. There will
always be some what of a problem with ranged units raining down on those mid bases from the back
end. The only way I figured I could slightly fix that problem was to give ranged advantage over that
central base area to the bases themselves. I did this by simply removing all cities and trees within a
five square radius of the mid bases on their back ends. Hopefully this will help a bit.

It occured to me that maybe the pipes behind the middle bases can be replaced by say, a plain or neutral city, so you can
position your own artillery to zone the artylocker out of the base area.
lavagainer (06/14/2016 11:24pm):
I was actually looking to do that originally, but I was worried that the base would be too easily
subjected to infantry rush over the river there if that was an open tile. Idk, that is all speculation really.
That might just be a viable change for that spot... Putting a city tile there might just give the central
bases a better hold over their positions.

I'm just disappointed that this map has nothing to do with Game of Thrones.
Xmo5 (06/22/2016 08:41am):
Then you must be disappointed in mine as well:

Nyvelion (06/22/2016 09:27am):
No, obviously that map is based on fighting over the Riverlands, and I appreciate the
reference to one of the more neglected areas of Westoros. The Tullys are like my favorite
main house in GoT. After Baratheon, Martell, and Tyrell.
lavagainer (06/22/2016 04:52pm):
You know what is funny Nyvelion.. After I remade and renamed this map, I felt that exact same way
you do. It doesn't have much GoT theme to it at all. Idk, I was kinda inspired to make and actual GoT
map..

Maybe have the Dragon Queen army be the only one with 3 pre-deployed stealths, or have Brown
Desert maybe start with a huge group of pre-deployed infantry as the Dothraki Horde or something
like that... Maybe even set it up to where the Dragon Queen's army has to go through the process of
capping all the cities she has in the series..

I haven't tried an actual pre-deployed map yet though...
Xmo5 (06/23/2016 09:15am):
I'll take your word for it. As my disclaimer said, I know nothing about either the books
or TV series, so I'll leave such musings to those who can appreciate them more than I.
