I would not assault from the middle as there is little cover.
Corners are useless as well.

Indeed. As a general rule, your income should scale with your progress. Pushing the
opponent back a little bit should mean you can capture some additional income. Pushing
them back further means more income up for grabs, and gaining a substantial advantage
should mean you have a substantial income advantage.

Right now there is very very little to fight over. There is also very little income and a
lot of bases which means you'll get a lot of infantry spam. You need an FTA counter too.
