Well its been 8 years since I've been on this site. I figured might as well make a map! I'm sure it is horrible and I probably didn't get the FTA sorted out right, but hey, it'll take time to figure it out again. I wasn't the best at maps anyway. This is a FoW map. I'm a huge fan of FoW style. Oh, can anyone explain to me why the maps wont display right? I can't see any terrain, just buildings and units, but in the map maker I can see everything. Says there's an error with the image or something and it can;t be displayed. |

Yay, more players! ...ahem. Put the BM inf on the BM base to avoid STA, maybe lay off on the forests, especially the solid forest triangles/L-shapes. Oh, and maybe switch to AW1 theme on your user info page, it worked for me. |

Wow and I thought my absences were long. ...I don't remember you though. Maybe you need a cool catchphrase or something so that nobody will forget your contributions here. |

Does everyone have to leave a significant mark of some sort though? I thought the point of life is merely to participate in it, lasting marks or not. |

Honestly, I can only think of a couple people with catchphrases* that make their posts stand out: The obvious one- amigo. What a way with words. Also, Jackie Milton, for ending every** post with -J.R.M. (Where R stands for "something Relevant to his post") I think the moral of the story is that Nyv's right. We all need to hop on this bandwagon and get catchphrasing, though I will admit that most people do have trademarks you pick up on if they post enough, like my massive text walls in map comments -_- ... le sigh. But legitimate catchphrasing! * These aren't really catchphrases, but whatever. ** Most posts, at least --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, on to the map! It's pretty good overall, but it could probably use a couple more barriers (probably mountains) to break up the battle into a couple distinct, but connected fronts. Makes the map more dynamic and keeps Max from having too much fun in the wide open fields. :P As far as FTA, I recommend making all cities neutral at the start (more funding = more options = more FTA... or at least FTA that's harder to balance) and giving each player two bases to start. 2 bases means that a single infantry is the equivalent of half of the only sensible Day 1 move, which balances things out nicely. To really balance it perfectly***, though, each (starting) base should have equal responsibility. Typically this is done by making one base responsible for the neutral base capture and the other base responsible for capturing an airport and sometimes a tower. If you did that, I would put the airport in the field by BM's northern bridge and add a tower sort of near the little pipe, but closer to BM than to OS (both properties mirrored for OS, obviously). In this scenario, the center base would be the other preowned base and the corner base would stay neutral and the FTA counter would go on the closest base to that corner. Finally, as a matter of personal preference, it would be nice to see the HQ's more exposed, so it's possible to capture them without completely destroying the enemy first. I like the idea of moving them each 6 spaces towards the center. 5 spaces would be fine too, but I prefer 6. :) Anyway, welcome back, even if we never really met. I probably started playing right around the time you left and I never really involved myself in the community in those days, so I'm not surprised I guess. *** Yeah, yeah, pretentious caveat about "perfect" blah blah technicality blah blah**** **** Enough with the freaking asterisks***** ***** What an ugly plural to speak aloud that is****** ****** Okay, I know that came off like Yoda, but so what? In a perfect*** world, everyone would talk like Yoda. (Help! I'm trapped!) ------------------------------------------ FIN ------------------------------------------ (Not Fin like FN-2187. Also, I avoided using asterisks***** on this one for your benefit, and yours alone, so consider yourself lucky!) |

Oh, I forgot to mention that if you're having trouble viewing the map(s) properly, go to User Info and change your AWBW Theme to Advance Wars 1. The AW2 theme has been causing issues from time to time for some reason. If that's not the problem, then I'm not sure if I can help you. |

Removed some of the trees and added a few more mountains to divide things up a tiny bit, but not too much since it is a small map. I think I fixed the FTA and base thing how you said Xmo5. I also moved up the HQ's a few spaces so its a bit harder to blockade them in and protect them. Oh, and switching to AW1 theme fixed my viewing issue. Thanks a lot guys!! If it still doesn't look quite right, let me know and I'll try to fix it. Thanks again! ~Blackmoocow~ |

Funding's not bad, but you could stand to spread some of the cities out from the tower area. Try to fill them in he areas with the biggest open plains and/or the spots with the biggest gaps between cities. Also, I'd make the corner island cities neutral to start. If you want you can add a predeployed black boat so they can be captured, but the funding makes the FTA counter less perfect.* *Yeah, yeah, we've been down this road before. Blah blah pretentious blah caveat blah blah technicality. |

Moved a few cities away from the towers and I think I added 2or 4 more in total to increase funds. T-copters can drop troops off from a shore, right? There wouldn't be an actual NEED for the black boat if I remember correctly if that is the case. Thanks for the input! ~Blackmoocow~ |

Xmo5 (07/11/2016 10:20pm):
Yeah, copters can reach them, but it's usually considered good manners to leave a bboat in cases like this so nobody has to sink the money for a transport, just for 1k income. If there were, say, 3k income, it would be a strategic option of when to get it, but here it's not very important and so might get neglected. |
