My first attempt at making a Bamboozle-style map. xD

What exactly makes a Bamboozle-style map?
Everdan (07/18/2016 04:34pm | Edited: 07/18/2016 04:37pm):
hmm... it's hard to say for sure. But if I had to take a stab at it...

Bases are vertically or horizontally offset from the centre to create diagonal fronts. Map divided into 2 major
fronts, each subdivided into 2 smaller fronts (so 4 small fronts in total). The two central fronts may sometimes
be merged into a single large front. Limited front-switching options. Mostly light terrain in the middle, slightly
heavier down the sides, with the heavy terrain placed strategically so there are multiple good locations to form
defensive formations. Rather safe towers, and airports well back from the fronts. Optimal capture order is not
immediately obvious.

Aesthetically, no large clumps of plains - place mountains, forests, rivers, roads, shoals and other assorted tiles
to reduce the monotony. And who could forget the shoals on rivers xD

There goes my secret formula :P although I did have to spam tons of maps
and hope some turned out alright in the end to find a balance. Honestly I just
endorse any map that has some nice looking river shoals.

Seriously, river shoals are the best. I didn't start using them until I got more serious
about competitive map design, but from the minute I used them, I loved 'em. In fact, I
liked them so much that I can remember that Bottleneck Creek was the first map I used them
on because it felt like a beautiful revelation at the time :P

a bamboozle map is a map that bamboozles you when you look at it youre all like "what i
can't even handle this" and then you don't handle it and then you have no choice but to
arrange an appointment with a mental health professional and then you do and then you tell
them that you couldn't handle a map and they dont know what you mean and you know that you
cant show them the map because then they also wouldnt be able to handle it and theyre the
ones that are supposed to help you and eventually youre able to just kinda be all like
"yeah i never even saw anything like that" and you just pretend to forget about it but in
the back of your mind it lurks just waiting for the day for it to resurface and destroy
your mind and your sanity and your grasp of euclidian geometry. its coming

^that was almost my feels when I saw a bamboozle map for the first time.
