Shadow Star (12/03/2017 02:04pm):
well, it doesn't seem to be 2v2 but rather 1v1. RIght now this map has FTA, which is First Turn Advantage. the way it stands is Orange Star will do something, then BM will have to do the same thing or try to counter what OS does. The best way to describe it would be if you take a step with one foot, then bring your other foot to where your first foot was. Never does your second foot get ahead of your first foot. the six bases and average 9K property per side is going to cause some map congestion. the two fronts are pretty narrow as well, which again is going to promote infantry, mechs, and artillary. which is going to make games congested. Another issue is having bases so close to the middle, it's a strong incentive to rush to the middle, which goes back to that fta. As a first map it makes pretty common first couple of map mistakes. Doesn't take into account FTA, choked fronts, property rushing. and in this case, too small of dimensions. Pretty average mistakes for new mapmakers. I would suggest looking at the A rank maps for ideas on property spacing and fta countering. |

Shadow Star, I am very thankful of your advice which goes much further into every detail of an good map than an "it sucks". I hope after looking through more already featured maps I will be able to understand the subleties of mapmaking. (and i still dont know how I got the 1v1 wrong) |

So I am mid-way through an game with another player on this map. As you expected, I was easily able to capture the bases in the middle and because of the lack of enough properties it will end in 1 tank being deployed on every turn. On such a small map its fatal to give no advantage to the second player for going second. I hope this "map" didnt enrage you. If it did I sincerely apologize. |
