As per usual, please comment why you score the map the way you do.

Because it is near-near perfect, I give it a 6.

I may as well leave my 2 cents having just been stricken with yet another nasty argument
on the Battalion Wars Discord. Oh, and then I get told to leave the past be when I was
fighting back against people NOT DOING THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Unfortunately, that brings up the thing I want to mention: first impressions are going to
count for a lot for people out there. I don't know if you can get this going, but even if
you can, with 2 renditions already, I doubt people will be any nicer to your map until
some form of retrospect possibly happens. And believe me when I say this: the Advance Wars
communities will *GLADLY* hold grudges. They have the same interest in stagnation on
permanent repeat. Ironically, I doubt they'd treat this map as anything but monotonous
from recycled tweaking efforts.

Part of me would want to check out that map--despite that 25x27 size--but I'm still
keeping my own standards for what I'd want to try out high anyway, because there's still
quite a few things I'd want to get going, including my No Melee Counter Run of Metroid:
Samus Returns.

What does concern me regardless is the starting income. Recon FTA is already something to
guard against because it can pull cost-effectiveness with ridiculous ease if the map
doesn't make it reasonable to get a Light Tank out soon enough to hard counter it. A lower
starting income means more banking required for dealing with a Recon. Yeah each player
starts with only 1 Factory, but I don't doubt that that would just mean the Recon is
hitting more valuable units too. Map size doesn't help, because it implies that battles on
the map are supposed to be epic; may I point out, for example, that TFB in Advance Wars is
21x25, which makes that actually smaller.

Though that does bring up something: general single-player maps in AW provided both
players with active starting resources. I'm wondering what could AWBW map design do to
involve a standard of better starting resources for each player than 3 preowned properties
with 2 of them being Factories (and the 3rd one being the HQ). I'm wondering how
predeployed Anti-Air Tanks can be involved, because if they can be added without involving
FTA from shooting up non-campy infantry, I can definitely say they'd be beneficial by
making it easier to get rid of foot soldiers later on, while the only CO who could make
the idea remotely ridiculous with their own gameplay is Kanbei, who is already broken in
his own right. It's something to keep in mind for future map design at least.

I will say, of course, that the Mech thing on this map has its definite potential as an
idea. Good balancing establishes the idea of fortifying a given location with anti-armor
while not having OTT offense. Of course, it's an idea, one that has to keep in mind other
factors. I expect the map size does at least help this idea.

Just wanted to get some stuff off my chest.

Echo Ridge

Faint murmurs
Rolled in, a regimental fog.
Where at? Not clear.
A sound fills all around

Soft whispers
Whisked away a sudden rest
Bringing back the hum
Of violence.

Blurred speech
Glazed over thoughtless minds.
Subtle orders, for they were
Unsure and blurred.

Excited shouts,
Recalled from the brief,
For a brief moment,
Soiled briefs.

Joyous screams
Echoed through our ranks,
And resonated through
Fun barrels.

Tortured shrieks
Painted the air
and my dreams wake me
In a pool of sweat.
Shrieking tortured.

My little ones
Will never eclipse
That awful bliss
With their joyous screams

Celebration and frivolity
Spark extended sessions
of noise so loud I can't hear
Excited shouts.

Telling tales?
What to tell?
I tell many things.
They blur my speech.

Comfort, that
Lulls me back to
The sleep I fear, in
Soft whispers.

My last friends,
who step careful
Lest I
Faint, murmur.
