One big problem is that the top-right and bottom-left bases will not contribute anything other than infantry, and
won't have any real impact on the battle.

There are also a ton of contested neutral cities, many of which will likely never be captured because of how close
the central bases are to each other. That will make games really chaotic and put a huge emphasis on the first few
turns, which isn't great for gameplay or balance.

Agreed with the above comments. I think it would be greatly improved if you reduced the
city density in the center, cut a path through the mountains from the NE/SW corners
straight to the neutral base, and switched which base had the FTA counter. Also, make sure
that infantry/recon rush can't disrupt capture of the neutral base.

I think removing a total of 3-6 cities would still leave you with reasonably high income, but
help clear up the issues Walker mentioned. If one base is more responsible for cities than
the other (especially early captures), I would make it the base that doesn't capture the
neutral base.

This map is extremely likely to devolve into a rocket + mech stalemate in the midgame, which I don't see an easy way to break.
