Note: The Map is design for fog. i try to use less wood on the center to clearly the sights, and the centralized city let once you controlled the center, attacker will gain lots of advantage. the fog let defense easier,so reward attack is necessary. |
walkerboh01 (08/25/2018 02:35am | Edited: 08/25/2018 02:36am):
I like the design a lot. One problem I can see is possible STA though, because the central base is more important position-wise, and is responsible for capturing many more properties than the wider starting base. At the very least, you should move the nearby cities so that they take longer to capture for the central base. |
Zeronix (04/30/2019 04:17pm):
I would like to see some test games on this map. The heavy forest would be interesting if it didn't negatively affect gameplay. |
Zeronix (05/03/2019 12:14am):
After much deliberation, and with the input of Sami-YXL, I have decided to put this into the GL for fog. It's a highly experimental map style but the test games have seemed promising. I think it will be interesting for fog players to adapt to the unique terrain layout on the map. |
Sami-YingXiangLi (05/04/2019 10:26pm):
To be honest, I'm not sure Sonja and Sami's strength on this map. Heavy forests are not like heavy mountains, not long fronts, but open battlefields. I think Sonja belongs to T3, her d2d is too weak, and her SCOP performance is not so strong in other fog maps with focus forests. Sami is interested on this map, and she may be able to use Art and Mech well to Implementing tactics for diversified forces |
SonjaTheSuperior (08/29/2019 01:57pm):
I think forests are too important here for sonja to be in t3 here. Her SCOP performance here should be quite strong since she can look to take positions in the forests and have them struggle to be broken. There are enough cities and forests that sonjas can set up a very strong defensive position and can probably cause a lot of problems in the center. I have not played on other maps with a heavy focus on forests (I am not sure how much weight to put into dragons in the dark, the forest gimmick has not come into play at all in my games). It should be fine to allow sami here, there is no hq pressure and I think she will really struggle in terms of mobility. |
SonjaTheSuperior (06/04/2021 02:06pm):
Forgot to say this, but fabulous map! Truly a classic and incredible idea put into excellent practice! |
aLittleFishy (08/03/2021 09:41pm):
The port is literally useless |
Sami-YingXiangLi (08/04/2021 10:57pm):
Note: Any useless port that you can see at a glance means that the port is not intended to be used to supply/Healing the units, not that it is useless |
Guapo_Elefante (08/27/2021 10:08pm):
I mean having a battleship in the middle of the woods is pretty sick. |
aLittleFishy (08/27/2021 10:11pm):
My opponent built a battleship on their port, preventing me from capping their comm tower for the rest of the match, except that a battleship is so expensive that the only reason they built it was because I was guaranteed the tower otherwise, because I was winning the match. The battleship wasn't a brilliant strategy, it was just a minor inconvenience while I moved my army around it. If the port isn't building units, then all it is doing is suppling income, like a city. If the problem is that a city there would be too strong (really?) then don't put one. If it doesn't factor into the game then yes, by definition it is useless. |
Guapo_Elefante (08/28/2021 03:45pm):
Yeah the ports don't make sense, they should just be cities. Also the mountain blocking the path of the middle base should be removed too. Otherwise though, pretty solid map! |
Lost and Flounder (09/02/2021 07:45pm):
Why would you remove the only tile that creates a dynamic 2v1 factory setup, though? To aid in staling off boards? |
aLittleFishy (09/05/2021 09:57am):
With the bases as close as they are to the HQ, you are very reliant on your opponent to resign, as it is nearly impossible to take the HQ. I suggest moving them to 02,04 and 21,11 respectively. Other than that solid league map 7/10 |
WarCrime (09/13/2021 12:43am):
I think this is my favorite map in the pool for fog. Really interesting engagements all across the battlefield, and rewards creative attacks to take eke out slight advantages and try to parlay them into victory. It's a map about managing the entire battlefront rather than individiual lanes lanes, and the 2v1 base component make it play slightly diagonally. |
LukeLeal (10/24/2021 05:02pm):
I think this map is quite fun. 8/10 IMHO. Only thing I would change is the HQ placement. As others mentioned, it's too well protected. Maybe placing them at [12,04] and [11,11] could help. A black boat on top of it as well may not be needed, but it would be neat if the boat started there and the little lake around it was reworked a bit. With some shoals around, the boat could serve another purpose besides HQ protection. Maybe that would change the map too much, tho. |
Chipstick (11/01/2021 02:37pm):
10/10, would keep the port. It's interesting imo. |
Jo_Slamma_Jamma (11/02/2021 12:21am):
Rating it 1/10. Just pick Sami if you want to win in this map when you come across it in your FoW League matches. |
lycanthropy (11/05/2021 01:24pm):
Sucks to suck. 10/10 map, very engaging Fog matches here. |
Tomate (11/13/2021 05:40am):
I don't like that all engagements take place on one horizontal line. It's pretty much impossible to push into your opponents area |
aLittleFishy (11/13/2021 10:44am | Edited: 11/13/2021 10:45am):
@Tomate Fighting on this map isn't really about the horizontal line, but the central forest. Once you have it secured and artillery or rockets in place then it becomes virtually impossible to push you out of the area; you can then use it to slowly push units to the nearby properties from the forest strongpoint. As the match goes on, you win by having a large unit advantage, as your opponent will find it very difficult to avoid sacking units to maintain territory while also struggling to kill your units hiding and recovering in the central cities with artillery support |
Mewtwo (11/15/2021 06:35pm):
i dont like how the HQ is too far back meaning that you HAVE to defeat all of the enemy units enough for them to forfeit. |
joebrooklyn39 (12/07/2021 10:04am | Edited: 12/07/2021 10:05am):
Love the map. Love playing Kindle on this one. So many good opportunities to strike from cities. |
Sami-YingXiangLi (01/29/2022 11:06pm | Edited: 01/29/2022 11:06pm):
This map is in the Hall of Fame as one of the most influential competitive fog maps. |
222111 (06/13/2022 10:10pm):
Rush FTK's maps often convince me that i never played fog before. |
Uncharted᎓ Jake`s Fortune (07/06/2022 02:06pm):
Help how play on map I keep losing video gaem |
Tasteless1979 (08/26/2022 09:59am):
Ton of fun fighting for the center, I think the gl capture limit is way too low considering how protected the hq is. But the actual map itself is brilliant. |
Hustler One (10/21/2022 08:10pm):
Bit too much forest in center. Super inconvenient to play the map here. |
IronNaija (11/13/2022 04:22pm):
Jesus Christ, I got stuck in a 41 turn stalemate on this map. Drake vs Kindle. At a certain point it became a world war 1 style artillery dual with counter attack after pointless counterattack. It's a good map, I'm just not experienced enough to know how to cap properties quickly and ended up fighting the entire match with a 7-10K income disadvantage. |
The Great Saiyaman (01/16/2024 02:05pm):
Just played a match against grit on this map, it was fun. I do think that there should be slightly less forests in the middle and I agree the hqs should maybe be a tad more exposed, I like the mountain setup though, my opponent used mechs effectively. |
