Wyj's Final Map in 2018..Maybe~

Your feeling is right.

Somehow this map reminds me of choisin.
SonjaTheSuperior (08/01/2019 06:05pm):
Very good quality, has a lot of depth.
Dredge (04/12/2021 11:05pm | Edited: 05/31/2021 05:24pm):
Map has been removed from FOG GL map pool due to OS starting with an Infantry. Will be reinstated once games finish up on
it and the FTA counter has been corrected.

EDIT: has been corrected 👍

An excellent map. I like how even though there's a strong and weak front, neither feels unwinnable unlike for example First
Step Into Fog.

Would be nice if the bottom and top of the map were sea tiles, as the nearby port would be perfect for a late-game battleship,
and a cruiser could harass the opponent airport. Other than that fun and balanced map 10/10
Also would be cool if the recons were replaced with missiles to both discourage early copter rush to your comm tower, and give
player the option to build a mech to destroy it, as right now the recon helps but lacks any real strategic importance to justify
sacking units to attack it
Cuddly (09/24/2021 01:22am):
Honestly, the "flow" of this map is pretty bad imo, along with some questionable mechanics.
Like, the opening of a map is pretty important, and while most of the time, capping cities is fun. You grab the nearest a city
that lets you start a chain of grabbing cities, then your income is naturally in the 10,000s (give or take a few) before you
reach any major conflict. However, Almost every city is isolated. The sole properties you can capture back to back are the
city below OS HQ+OS HQ, and the city above BM HQ+BM HQ. Not only does it just feel worse, but it also affects the
midgame as well.
Another thing about the properties is that the center has pretty much nothing or interest, when it should be the most
contested area of the map. Instead of some juicy properties to take, you have completely useless labs, which will do nothing
aside from alter you to the presence of enemies (just discouraging central play even more) and gives you 3 stars of terrain
defense.
Some other things I really don't like is the placement of shoals here. They are some of the most inconvenient shoals for
unloading troops. It's like the map designer intentionally made it so that (aside from certain COs), the Black Boat you start
out with is taking a century to go from bases area to the Comm Tower area. There is also the shoals in that city that's
blocked by that mountain. That type of design that goes back to the isolated cities problem too. Instead of a leisurely stroll of
a typical day 3 capture, you get to that property on day 3, and that's one of the earliest properties you can capture. Would it
really kill you to have shoals connecting the base to the property? Oh, and then you can only get out of that area either by
BB/Lander, or walk out the way you came.
And also, what even is the mountain doing over there? It's not like the mountain delays any captures, blocks any vehicles, or
shields indirects. It doesn't even give you all that useful information with infantry either.
One last thing I want to criticize is the Recon. While I am somewhat of a fan of maps with spying mechanics, the recon here
is pretty pointless like that mountain. All you get to see is when some infantry capture the comm tower and that harbor
(which likely will just be landers and BBs given the economy of this map).

What I do to improve the flow and feel of this map would be;
-Remove the labs and replace them with cities
-Add more cities, the likes of which are 3 blocks apart and chain towards the center
-Move that pointless mountain 6 blocks to the center
-Move the recon island down to the bases
-Bridge that city close to Mt. Pointless to the bases
-Possibly make that into a base as well, a neutral one however

Not gonna lie I am going to play a fog league game on this map and I am not looking forward to it. Idk if the creator is still
active, but if you are, please follow the advice of Cuddly. I will come back to say my thoughts about this map at a later time.
aLittleFishy (10/03/2021 09:23am):
The more i play on this map, the more i realize that it is incredibly prone to stalling out, as the HQ's aren't actually as exposed
as they first look and there is no good way to hide artillery or rockets to help in a base assault unless you are dominating, if you
and your opponent are equal then you mainly just move your army into and out of the wings hoping to catch your opponent off
guard. In conclusion, if the map relies on your opponent resigning, (this one definitely does) then the map becomes slow and
boring to play on. 1/10
