This is an edited version of nano.ripe's map, Aphotic Arena Redone: https://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=64569 Based on the original, Aphotic Arena, created by Puck: https://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=52913 The intent here was to limit infantry spam and create slightly more interesting fronts. Emphasis was put on encouraging more fighting in the north/south, adding unit movement routes behind the HQs, and opening up paths from the neutral base to promote vehicle production. The original idea behind the map was hopefully maintained. |

A CO who can boost the Black Boat's movement can send an infantry to the neutral base in the same time as manually moving an infantry from the closer base. I'm not sure how useful this is, but it's worth pointing out. |

@clarecat44 its still one turn slower to start the cap w/ the lander compared to moving by foot, because unloading a unit leaves the unloaded unit in a turn completed state (it can no longer be issued orders). turn 3 you're unloading by boat, turn 3 on foot you're moving into and capping. |

Unfortunately the original map (and its remake) were too easy to stalemate. Not enough contested cities, and capture phases that generated massive clumps of infantry. This is not an easy problem to fix without really changing terrain, so of course a lot of city placements had to be reworked... |

this map is asymmetrical. the reefs on the middle left and middle right of the map do not match - the one on the left is diagonal to the airport while the one on the right is not |
