Test branch for this https://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=81168 so I can make adjustments while its being
played on. List of changes to the countries:

OS/France: Ive given countries that start with 2 bases on the mainland a starting infantry to help slightly offset the 2vs3 base
disadvantage. France's Africa neighbour is now no longer TG/Spain. Spain previously had only OS as an opponent so was
almost guaranteed to attack him. Now France might not have to deal with as much of an assault from TG so can better deal
with the other countries, especially GE/Germany. Their base can no longer be artillery-locked by TG either.

BM/Russia: BM still has a larger area with more funding to grow into at the expense of a slower buildup. However YC does
have a base closer to them now so might have to compete for some of the funding.

CI/Scandinavia: Scandinavia has been given a starting lander so they can grow without fighting BM should they choose to.
Possibly distracting GE/Germany could help OS/France survive. Should they choose they can also aid BM earlier if they wish
to, especially if BM gets gang-attacked early, particularly by GE+BH. Could also make invading Britain a slightly higher
possibility (especially if other countries join them) or reinforcing their iceland port. CI has also been given a starting recon in
Iceland to make it a bit harder for RF/Britain to take them easily in early game while CI lacks the funding for defending it.

YC/Turkey: YC has a base pushed closer to BM. Their late-game funding potential is reduced but their bases are better
consolidated to reduce getting overrun early game, especially by AB if they are at peace with BH.

BH/Austria-Hungary: BH now has to deal with only a 2 base AB on the mainland with slightly reduced funding. GE may also be
a bit more distracted now.

AB/Greece: One of AB's bases is moved to an island, but they've been given a starting lander to help offset this disadvantage.
They can also choose to compete in the neutral oilfields (neutral cities) in the middle-east. They also have a starting infantry to
offset the reduced city count and because one of their bases has no nearby cities.

JS/Italy: Italy's been given a starting infantry as well due to 2 bases on the mainland.

GE/Germany-Poland: May now have to deal with incursions from CI, or early support from CI should they invade Russia. On
the other hand they could decide to invade Britain. BH also has less concern with AB so may be a tougher opponent. France
has also been buffed so might not be overrun as easily.

RF/Britain: Britain's been given a lander so they better participate in the mainland conflict, and could help OS against GE. In
return they have 1 less city and no longer have access to the riches middle-east. They can better support their base in TG's
area now, and can invade TG more easily now should they wish. They could use the lander to help invade CI as well.

TG/Portugal-Spain: TG has more diplomacy/combat options now. Their city count on the mainland is reduced by 1 and they
can no longer artillery-lock OS's base. Starting property count is reduced than other countries because they have less possible
opponents at the start compared to countries like GE and BH, but have a lot of neutral properties 1 turn away from their bases.
In return they have access to the a better starting position in Africa. They can compete for the middle east with YC and possibly
AB. They also have a lander so they can invade other areas with vehicles despite being landlocked by oceans+mountains.

Also this is a test branch, so will be deleted eventually. Comments will be transferred to the main maps page.

Yes, those landers please me.

Good to hear!

Further changes:
Terrain changes - There are more reefs in the oceans, a few more forests in Africa and upper Russia shoals in Africa and
Middle-East. Sicily has been moved closer to Italian mainland so theres more room for ships to move across the
Mediterranean.

JS has had their 22,27 port replaced with a city and 23,28 city replaced with empty silo and a port at 19,24.
This is so their early-phase capture is faster (they previously had most of their neutral properties well away from their starting
bases in Italy) and so they have a port to send ships into the Mediterranean against Spain/France/UK if they want.
Motivation for the first change was BH being possibly more aggressive against them early-game with AB being further away.
And motivation for second change was so Italy will have a possibly easier time fighting possible navies if they don't have to
send ships around Sicily (since they were the only country in that region that did not have immediate access to the ocean).

33,38 city replaced with silo to limit funding in that area and access to excessive early neutral properties for TG.

37,26 port is no longer shore-locked so YC can more easily send ships into the Mediterranean.

My only problem is that Spain doesn't really look right.
clord666 (06/19/2021 09:05am):
No longer just a test branch as its gotten quite different. This will remain a 9 player version (which to be honest is probably
better than the other 10 player version - https://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=81168).

why is france not purple lighting the hq is effle tower
clord666 (09/30/2021 08:36am | Edited: 09/30/2021 08:36am):
Because of the turn order. France currently moves first, but will move last if I set them to Purple Lightning.
However when joining a game France can change their colour to Purple Lightning and this won't effect the turn order.
GonzO1123 (10/13/2021 01:31pm):
that british port in gibraltar is unbalanced as fuck but it killed me xD
Nolano (04/01/2023 11:41am):
I'm a bit confused, in the comments theres all these Notes about map and starting unit changes but the map...doesn't reflect
that at all? None of the changes spoken about are in here, nor does it have any units?
ViridisViperz (06/10/2024 12:40am):
GonzO1123- it's pretty interesting for diplomacy purposes. Spain can barter Gibraltar's existence with England in order to foster
good relations. It's easy to take away, and not going to pose much of a threat by itself. Overall this is a pretty solid Europe map,
and I'm glad that North Africa and the Middle East are included for expansion.
