Welcome to my first map. This map was created with the objetive to have a map wich requires to hold the center and be in
constant fight. There are also many places like mini-islands that you have to take the control or at leaste have an eye on ther.

Any suggestions are welcome, wish you enjoy it!

You should read the map introduction guide on how to make maps for AWBW, this has many
flaws, for a rookie map it's pretty average

Flaws:

Contested production bases
First turn advantage (FTA)
More pre-owned properties than necessary (airport, cities)
Damn son too many mountains

Not necessarily a flaw: 4 cities in the middle of nowhere, why would anyone go for the 4 cities
in between the mountains? A good incentive would be 1-2 comm towers, BUT dont get used to
putting too many special properties (comm towers, labs) or production properties, because this
is a newbie map i think the massive amounts of production properties are forgiven

The mid is a clusterfuck, no offense but this is literally the contrary of what you should do - still
forgiven, it's your first AWBW map - if everyone gets to mid at the exact same time it COULD
work but most of the times it's gonna end up who's first (Orange Star) and the middle is gonna
be held by said nation until that nation wins or the middle is overthrown

I'm not sure what the quality of the content on the discord is but i guess you could ask the M(ap)

I changed a few things:

Now are less mountais and a few common towers to make interesting to take that zone. I also added four entrances for land
units.
The are 12 less production properties.
The airport and the cities are no longer pre-owned.

I read the article but dont get the FTA at all, anyways i tried to take it down with this changes:

The production properties in the center of the map were removed.
The center of the map is important but not as in the first version of the map.
Added pipelines to have more impact on COs select. Gives this more advantage to orange star if they choose a CO like
Kanbei?
rotpilz (06/20/2021 08:10am | Edited: 06/20/2021 08:16am):
The reason for Anti-FTA measures is because the first player having an Advantage can ruin the
game for the other player(s)

There are various Anti-FTA types, the most common is *putting an infantry in the pre-owned
base closest to a neutral base*, this is the standard and normal FTA counter in most 3 base per
side
maps, there are more counters but this is as basic as it can get

The "theory" behind the FTA counter is to give the last/later player (s) HALF of their first turn,
because the first turn is always an infantry (except on extremely rare cases or other map
categories)

There's 2 ways to fix the FTA in this map:

1: change Green Earth's position with Orange Star and give GreEar an infantry on the
eastern/rightmost pre-owned base, and give one infantry to Yellow comet on the
western/leftmost pre-owned to base

2: I'm not sure if this is the correct counter, but i think it works: do the same Country position
change as above BUT instead put a GrEar city in OrStar's capturing range and a Yellow comet
city in both BlMoon and GrEar's capturing range

Capturing range: 2-3 tiles from a pre-owned base

Remember that top level CO's/the broken 5 do not show up in normal standard games, high
funds might let em

The broken 5 are as follow: Kanbei, Hachi, Sensei, Colin & Grit, on some occasions Nell &
Sturm are also here, but that's on heavy terrain maps (this one probably counts)

The pipes can make it choky, but for a second rendition it is good

There are still contested bases, but the map is so big for now they can be forgiven

Also another issue i didn't notice was: *HQs are too protected* this is a semi-strict rule (can be
in normal maps but usually isn't) I'd say for this map dont change anything, but HQs should
almost always be at least 5-6 tiles away from bases, maybe (air)ports can be ignored as the
units are so expensive and limited so they cant really be abused to lock down an HQ

I would recommend checking the A-Rank and New categories to see examples of these
counters and basics

https://awbw.amarriner.com/categories.php

I recommend mostly checking A ranks, why not S rank, New or casual?

S rank: most S ranks are either old or so good and/or original that you can't really make one
without looking like another one, in the regard of old is that AWBW has been here since before
Dual Strike which means that Metas changed heavily, and some old maps might not even apply
for S rank anymore/barely fit

New maps are mostly bland and similar maps, some stand out though, take it as a sort of "B
rank", most maps you see in recent maps are gonna fit here, I'm not sure if the New category
could mean that with some changes it can get a higher rating or not, could ask the MC for that

Casual play is... Casual play, this is basically the lowest ranking you can get, it's playable, it has
most conditions for a map but isnt good enough to be any more than a pass time activity, this
map could fit in casual play, most of these maps can't get into New unless there are major
terrain/shape/balance changes

This can be pretty overwhelming, but that's quite a lot of the AWBW info on design maps, there's
some more extra stuff but this is all you really need to consistently do New-Casual maps

Here's a "guide" on the map tags (features, function & ranking):

DarthRevan27 (06/22/2021 12:02am):
Its fine for me if is a casual map, my objetive is just that, having a fun map to play without to much expectatives. Of course if
a can do something to put it better i will do. If i say the truth, the principal objetive of the map was to play with friends and
give it to the other players to use too for their fun.

Is the FTA solved now? My idea for the map is a team game being in the same team the northwest CO and southest CO.
Team game but hard to help eachother without fight.

Pd_ Sorry for my awfull english.
