Fourth attempt at making a map for AWBW, this time with a focus on Fog of War. Initially, I wanted to develop this map with the intention of having Rain always on (hence the name of the map), but decided against it about halfway through development. As this is my first attempt at a true FoW map, I'm interested to see how this map will play out. As always, any feedback is appreciated as long as it's constructive. Thank you. Edits: Version 1.1: Flipped the neutral airport and neutral base locations. Moved FTA infantry to reflect changes. Version 2: Added mountains at 8,6 13,11 07,11 14,06 10,15 and 11,02. Flipped neutral city and base at 03,01 & 04,09 and 20,14 & 17,08. Base location changes are to encourage faster play in the center with less focus on the flanks. Also made several changes to terrain to slow recon rushes, modified sea area to reflect changes (thanks OutlineY for the suggestions). Version 3: Made significant changes to support more competitive play. Heavily increased amount of roads, removed some mountains, reworked forest placements, replaced bases with cities at 08,17 and 13,00, and added shoals in various places. Looks ok, but the bottom and top will just be a slugfest with both sides slowly approaching the middle and the middle is susceptible to recon rush, but for a first attempt this is incredible! And these are just its major problems, it does have some positives like a neat base layout, varied terrain, (although I’d like to see a couple more mountains around the fronts) and a solid capture phase. 6/10 (A lot better than it sounds!) |

In hindsight, I can agree with the fact that the map will play out slowly. I could maybe play around with the starting base layouts and see if I can find something that would work better. I tried to avoid putting in too many mountains initially but I think I see some spots where it would help to have some mountains. Appreciate the feedback, thanks for being honest and detailed. |
