So here's how this goes down: If Sturm is not banned, he puts BM at an advantage, but guarantees OS's victory. BM's PR cannot get into position because OS moves first. Sturm spends three turns walking an Inf onto the HQ and the APC isn't a problem because of the PR. Meanwhile, Sturm can block the enemy's attempt at a cap because of his unhindered movement. And if you end up in a position where you take damage, well Sturm has bonus defense so it's not even a big deal. The PR can't kill the Inf fast enough to stop a 3-turn cap. Unless of course, you chose Kanbei. But if you left T0 COs unbanned, you made a massive mistake. Ok, so you banned Sturm. Now what? Well, it's not much different, but your Infantry takes one more turn to get where it needs to go. OS still has the advantage. If OS plays Sami, they can't be stopped even if the PR gets through. But let's say both players screw up royally and the game doesn't end in a few days. Eagle's broken as hell, as is Sami. The issues with this map come down to being forced to ban specific COs in order to have a semblance of a fair match, and even then you're forced into a very specific scenario that's very difficult to win. If BM does manage to stop OS from HQ capping, OS basically has free reign to cap properties in the meanwhile, giving them a massive advantage. There are ways to fix this map. Get rid of the predeployed PRs, break some of the pipes to keep them from interacting, predeploy Black Boats instead of APCs, unbreak the pipe between the Base and Comm Tower. The intention may be to make a rushdown map where the HQs are in immediate danger, but this isn't how to do it. |
