Going to say this now in place of the map maker, the OS infantry are ghost units; you can't attack them and they don't actually occupy the ports in game, i.e you can still cap the ports with them there. They are there because they prevent any unit from spawning (because the ghost units are there, you can't click on the port to build any naval units even if you have capped the port). The question then becomes "why not just have cities then if that's all the ports really are?", and the answer is that some people don't like putting 2 cities next to each other; aesthetically speaking they dislike it. Apart from that, i actually really like this map, the forests slow down vehicles leaving your main base but also prevent your opponent from trying to rush any indirects you build by hiding them; the forests in general are placed in areas of conflict but not in areas that aren't (the corners), which allows you to contest them throughout the game. i only have nitpicks, being the lack of an airport can make matches feel stale for some people (i don't mind), and that because of the 2 cities and forest near the HQ, you are reliant on your opponent resigning, as it is almost impossible to win by HQ cap (setting the capture limit to roughly 24 could help ((owning most of the contested properties; all would be equally obnoxious to pull off). 10/10 |
