Here's a map with only sea and air units, which you probably don't see every day. Here's
the usual rundown on this map:
If this map is played in teams, the recommended teams consist of the armies that are on
the opposite sides of the map, for example OS and JS, because it will even the turn
advantage. Set the funds very high, 8000 or even 9500. Otherwise there isn't enough
money to build things. There are no cities because otherwise Hachi and Sensei could use
land units. You get predeployed units simply because otherwise you couldn't lose if you
didn't build anything. Some of the airports and ports have been spread out to solve refueling
problems. I decided not to place APCs because they would be destroyed quickly. The
neutral ports are only meant for defence. They are not meant to be captured, not that it
could even be done without infantry or mechs. You might consider banning Black
Bombs. As for the CO bans... Drake has good sea units but weak air units and it's the other
way around with Eagle. And then there are Colin and Hachi (even without the cities). And
then there's the famous first turn advantage. Well, I've tried to minimize the immediate
fights and placed the first armies' ports and airports a little bit further from the
center, but I don't think it matters much
anyway. Tthe woods and mountains are there only to make the islands look something else
than only plains. And finally, the battle could take a while.

Even if this map doesn't get a 9 or even an 8, remember that there aren't many maps with
only air and sea units. At least I hope that it's the best one of those maps although
there is
hardly any competition. Maps like this are somewhat difficult to make but this is something I
wanted to try nonetheless.

That was a long comment...

Don't forget that destroyed pipe seams are essentially plains, so the naval units in the
pipes are trapped there.
Scylira (01/04/2006 03:25pm):
I like that each of the nation's islands look like their sign. It's the little things like that that make
a good map a great map.
Ultra Storm (01/04/2006 03:27pm | Edited: 01/04/2006 03:39pm):
I think I'll open some pipe seams. If you like the nations' symbols, check out my maps
Country Symbols and Country Symbols 2.
gunner1138 (07/01/2006 04:46am):
Why r there neutral properties?
Freezie (07/01/2006 08:55am):
@Gunner1138: Read the first comment... It explains ALL the map

Now, onto ranting... errr... rating

Ok... There's not much to rant about this map, its quite nicelly planned, and it surely
looks like a fun game...

9!
jhuni (07/14/2006 05:11pm):
Dont bother reading the wall of text the map speaks for itself..
Paul.Power (08/24/2006 12:51am):
Rather like an expanded "Sea For All". Funky.
malgam (11/24/2007 07:02pm):
Why not just make it pre-deployed if you can't capture properties?
isuck (11/24/2007 11:53pm):
Because predeployed means no variation in units and no surprises in what the other person
will have.

10/10

One thing that would be interesting to do is have random ports and airports scattered
through the maps with ghost units on them so you can't build on them but you can still use
them for defense and healing. =D
kookysooky (11/15/2008 06:07pm):
add a base next to a pipe for piperunner capacity? as in, leave it isolated to prevent
loading/unloading? (I know this is called only air and sea, but...)
joeywashere (11/17/2008 09:44pm | Edited: 11/17/2008 09:44pm):
why is black hole's island the nazi sign? the yellow comet island an arrow, orange star a
star, and teal galaxy a snowflake? and green earth an earth, and amber blaze a fire, and
blue moon a cresent moon?

------first comment to notice this, WHERES MY COOKIEZ/!??!
alamech (01/16/2009 09:23am):
it's not the 'nazi sign'. the 'nazi sign' goes the other way around. but yeah, you noticed
that the BH symbol hides a swastika and thus is playing with mostly fascist-associated
symbolism.

but theres two reasons why you get no cookie:
1) you're not the first to notice this, look at Scyliras comment
2) theres no teal on this map, it's jade sun.
mirddes (11/19/2013 06:07am):
why neutral properties?
